History

Oscar Leger began to study Karate in 1971. In 2013, he attained the prestigious rank of 8th Degree Black Belt under O'Sensei Masami Tsuruoka, 10th Degree Black Belt and known as the “Father of Canadian Karate” for having brought the sport to Canada from Japan over fifty years ago.

Sensei Leger has also received the National Karate Association 5th Degree Certification, which is recognized by Sport Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee. In addition, he has completed the National Coaching Certification Program Level I and Level II.

After having taught at a local Karate school for many years, Sensei Leger decided to open a Tsuruoka Karate School in January 2001. Sensei Leger's goal is to return to the source of Karate expertise and training in Canada.

A close working relationship with Sensei David Tsuruoka and the Tsuruoka Karate Organization's top instructors ensures that the Oscar Leger School of Karate offers its students the latest and most progressive Tsuruoka Karate techniques and principles available in Canada.

The Oscar Leger School of Karate is the only Tsuruoka sanctioned karate school operating in Moncton, NB.
